Since last month, Enfield Council has a new Cabinet Member for Finance & Efficiency, Cllr Dino Lemonides. This week Cllr Dino Lemonides, the new Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance & Efficiency, went to see for himself the services offered by the Registrars team. The service held over 750 marriages as well as registering 6,500 births and 2,200 deaths last year. During his visit, Cllr Lemonides spoke with staff and service users and also toured the archives.
The service also conducts citizenship ceremonies which are always very popular, joyous events held in the presence of the Mayor of Enfield. In addition, the registration team offer a joint citizenship and passport application checking service which allows you to submit your passport application at the same time as your citizenship application. This service was developed in partnership with the Home Office.
Cllr Lemonides was also shown how the service can be vital to people throughout the country, and abroad, researching their family tree who need information about those who may have been born, married or died in the borough of Enfield.
Cllr Lemonides said “I was delighted to visit the Registrars team, which is a friendly service who deal with residents throughout all stages of their lives; birth, marriage and death. But the service is also really important to people who wish to become British Citizens, and who choose to have their applications checked by the team and then go on to hold their Citizenship Ceremony in the borough.
“It’s also great that residents can book appointments online 24 hours a day through a PC, smartphone or tablet via our website. These bookings can be made at your convenience without having to visit in person or call.”
